3. Insert automatic shapes, change the colour and add text.
Finally the flyer is ready.

Computer in all its form

From time to time, science has provided us with different surprises one of which is today’s computer. Few years back, Computer had never been the way we see it today. Today computer are present in different sizes and patterns.

Presently computer is of four types depending on the size:

1. Supercomputer: A super computer is a computer that performs at very high operational rates. It is basically used for engineering and scientific works that require very large database. At present there are just a handful amount of supercomputers in the whole world among which Sunway TaihuLight of Wixu, China is the fastest.

2. Mainframe computers: Mainframe computer is almost similar to Super computer in function since its also used for heavy duty works like mission critical operations requiring high volumes of data processing. Its also large in size but yet neither as big as supercomputer nor as fast as it. IBM zSeries,  IBM z13, System z9 and System z10 servers are some examples.

3. Mini Computers: It refers to small computers that intermediate between mainframe computer and microcomputer in size, speed, and capacity, that can support time-sharing, and is often dedicated to single application Control Data's CDC 160A and CDC 1700, DEC PDP and VAX series, Hewlett-Packard, HP 3000 series and HP 2100 series are  some mention able examples of Mini computers.

4. Micro computers: The computers we basically use from day to day life like the Desktop, laptops, tablets are categorized in Micro computer. Some micro computers:

A. Desktop: Regular computers that used usually and are easy to fit in on desks or corners.

B. Notebook or laptop: Portable and lightweight computers that easily fit into briefcases as well.

C. Handheld PC: The smallest computers that include pen input, personal organization tools etc.

D. Netbook: Almost a same to a notebook with lighter weight, smaller size and cheaper price.

E. Tablet PC: Its a highly portable PC whose primary interface is a touch screen which allows to enter data and select command using a pen stylus.

Basic and Speical Application

Application Software are of two types:

1. Basic Application: Its also knows as general purpose application software. These are widely used for almost every acts or works. For academic use these are used for assignments, notes, marksheets etc. Some examples are Microsoft word, Wordprocessor, Spreadsheets etc.

2. Specialized Application: It includes software that are built for any specific individual purpose or any company’s specific needs. In case of academic uses, it includes XOOM, Blackboard etc sites that are created only for study purpose through which teachers can take classes online, provide tests, notes etc.

A brief differentiation on System and Application Software

SOFTWARE: Software is a set of instructions, data or programs that are used to operate computers and carry out different specific tasks. Depending on its use, Software is basically categorized into two:-

1. System Software: The software that interfaces between application software and the system. It also maintains the system resources and gives path for application software to run. Since its a general purpose software, its important that without it system cannot run.

System software includes different sort of operating systems in its type.

2. Application Software: Application software is the specialized software that runs as per user’s request. Its a specific purpose software that runs on the platform provided by the system software.

Application software includes Youtube, VLC, photoshop, Uber, facebook etc.

DIFFERENTIATION OR COMPARISON:

System software maintains the system resources whereas the application software is built for specific tasks. In case of language, system requires low level language but application requires high level language.

System software is a general purpose software whereas application software are designed for specific purposes.

Without system software system can’t run while system software runs only when the system is on. On the contrary, application software runs only as per the user’s request.

Ins and Outs of a Computer and its Process

In today’s modern world we all have more or less learned about the ins and outs of a Computer. We all know there are Input and Output devices of a computer which basically execute any task ordered by the user and show up the result.

INPUT: Any data or instructions used by a computer from the user are the input.

These data or set of instructions or orders are taken by Input devices which transform these into a form that system unit can process. Input devices include:

1. Keyboard (Wireless, PDA, virtual, Traditional etc)

2. Audio Input device

3. Pointing device (Mouse, Stylus, Joystick, Trackball, Touch pad etc. )

4. Scanning device (Optical, Card Readers, Barcode Readers etc.)

5. Image capturing device (Digital camera, Digital video camera, Webcam etc. )

OUTPUT: The processed data or instructions or the result of any command executed are the output. The devices that show the results are the output devices. Output devices include:

1. Monitors (CRT, LCD, OLED, TFT etc.)

2. Printers(Ink jet, laser, plotters, Dot matrix etc. )

3. Audio Output devices (Portable media players)

The input and output devices are both part and parcel of a computer.Now, the input devices are hardwares used by the user to enter data whereas the output devices use processed data from computer to perform a task.

Again, Input devices only sends data to process but output devices only receive the processed data.

In case of controlling, input devices are user controlled with the output devices being computer controlled.

The output devices are quiet simpler for users since they only see the results. On the contrary, Input have relatively complex coding for user to interact with computer correctly.    

Getting Data into Computer:  The Computer executes any task or command given from the user by the combination of Input and Output devices. Users provide data or command into computer through Input devices (Keyboard, Mouse, Scanner). This data then moves to the CPU (Central processing Unit). Output devices then show the result or perform the task accordingly after the data has been processed. Besides, required information are also saved to the memory from the CPU directly. This process can clearly be understood from the photo attached below since “A picture is worth thousand words.” 

      

SECURITY ALGORITHM USED IN CLOUD COMPUTING

Cloud Computing is the storing and accessing of data in the Internet instead of a computer's hard disk. Since the security is genuinely a concern for the cloud computing, there is growing usage of security algorithm. The common algorithm are RSA ( Rivest, Shamir, and Adleman), AES Algorithm (Advanced Encryption Standard), DES Algorithm (Data Encryption Standard), Blowfish Algorithm. Among this, RES is the most common public key Algorithm. Here, AES, RSA, Blowfish, DES are respectively 128,19 2,256 bits 1024 bits 32-448 bits 56 bits. the AES isSecure for both provide r and user, RSA is Secure for user only, Blowfish is  Secure for both provide rs and user/cli ent side and DES applies Security applied to both providers and users.

An incomparable experience

 Travelling to different places, meeting new people, getting accustomed to new culture have always been a favourite task to me. So it had always been my intense desire to study abroad.Thus this desire led me to get admitted to the Universiti of Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).

Though I have always loved travelling I have never been away from home, away from my family for long. So it wasn’t really easy for me to cope with the lonely life. From the very first day I arrived at UTM I was all panic stricken thinking about how I’d survive the next 4 years without my family. Moreover the hectic 5 hours of journey, the stress of enrolment registration, fees payment, searching for dorm all added to my frustration leaving me with no peace of mind. But some how I managed to get back to the travelling passion and started enjoying the scenic beauty that UTM had been blessed with by the nature. The central mosque, the stadium, the UTM lake, the peakest point that is the belai cerap everything seemed to be unreal. The mesmerizing

beauty, the soothing breeze, the polite nature left me speechless. Besides, the city Johor Bahru (where UTM is located) seems to be a paradise designed by the Almighty . Walking by the sea at Danga Bay, taking photos with Singapore at the back at Puteri Harbour, witnessing the sunrise at Desaru Beach all were like life time opportunities to me.

             

Again, the Malaysian cuisine which includes vast variety of delicious and luscious dishes surely makes this a heavenly place to any food lovers like me. The traditional and mouthwatering dishes like Nasi Goreng Ayam, Nasi Lemak, Nasi Goreng Paprik, Mee Goreng etc. are really hard to resist and that might be the reason I have grown this fat.      

Again the people here will never make you feel like a stranger or an outsider. Their hospitality, their humbleness, their politeness, their always happy and caring attitude will urge you to love them.

Besides all of these, UTM has also gifted me with friends from different regions of the world like Nigeria, Sudan, Pakistan who are always there by my side. Moreover, the lecturers, the moderators are no less than guardians. Their constant support are that all one needs while studying thousands of miles away from home.
